WHAT IS THE BEEP TEST?
The shuttle run, or more commonly known as the beep test is a fitness test to gather information on an individuals cardiovascular endurance. Flat, non-slip surface, marking cones, 20m measuring tape, beep test audio, and a way to record scores (spreadsheet, Microsoft Excel, paper etc.). The beep test is a commonly used maximal running aerobic fitness test, used by many around the world.
PROCEDURE OF THE BEEP TEST:
The main procedure of the beep test is continuous jogging (running later on in the test) between two 20m markers. Every 20m you jog, a beep will play. You need to reach the other 20m marker before the beep occurs, otherwise you will have to run faster to the next 20m to catch up or else you are out, and the level you are out on is your score. When you reach either 20m marker you need to have at least one foot placed behind the marker or else you will still need to run to catch up. Throughout the levels from level 1 all the way to 23, the beep will occur faster, meaning you will need to run faster. If the line is reached before the beep sounds, the participant must wait until the beep sounds before continuing.
. If the line is not reached before the beep sounds, the subject is given a warning and must continue to run to the line, then turn and try to catch up with the pace within two more ‘beeps’. The test is stopped if the subject fails to reach the line (within 2 meters) for two consecutive ends after a warning.

What is cardiovascular endurance?
Cardiovascular endurance is the ability for the lungs, heart and blood vessels to deliver oxygen to the body tissues, which lowers breathing rate. One of the most important aspects of fitness, it can also be seen as the ability and strength of the heart, which can add years to a lifespan. Having a good cardiovascular endurance can improve performance and can keep you healthy from various diseases. Another reason that cardiouvascular endurance is important is because your heart controls the oxygen flow to all your muscles.
GRAPHS OF BEEP TEST SCORES:
MEAN, MEDIAN & MODE:
The mean score of the 31 beep test participants of 7.1 was 7.69, just over my score of 7.5. The most popular score achieved by 6 of the 7.1 students was 7.2, while the middle value score was 7.4. The range of the 31 scores were a whopping 7.8, while the difference between the last score and the second last score amassed a mind-blowing 4.1. This shows the different levels of fitness throughout the class and cardiovascular endurance levels vary in 7.1.
